Navigation & Menus in Hike eCommerce | Setup and Best Practices

Hike eCommerce : Navigation

Navigation plays a vital role in shaping how users interact with your online store. A well-structured navigation setup not only improves the customer browsing experience but also makes it easier for store owners to manage menus, categories, and pages efficiently.

In this article, we’ll walk you through how the Navigation section works, how to create and manage menus, and best practices to keep your website organized and user-friendly.

The navigation section on an e-commerce website plays a crucial role in streamlining operations and boosting efficiency. It should be intuitive, organized, and provide easy access to all the essential features and data. Here are some key considerations for designing an effective back-end navigation:

Menu Structure:

Main Navigation Bar: This should house the core functionalities like Home, Product, Contact us, FAQ, SiteMap, and Categories. Use clear and concise labels for each section.

Sub-menus: Organise sub-categories under relevant main menu items. For example, under "Products," you could have sub-menus for "Catalogue".

Menus

You can add new Menus to this list from the 'Add Menu' section.

For new or existing Menu, you can assign your preferred name and add the Menu items details of each menu from the below.

This is how it shows on your actual webpage.

You can change the order of the menu items as per your preference by using drag and drop option as shown below.

You can also create a sub-category within the menu if you require. To use a sub-category, you will need to update the drag the Menu item from Left to Right

Here is an example of how this will show on the actual website.

The three default menus provided cannot be deleted.

For other menus you have created, you can delete them as per below screenshot if not required.

By following these guidelines, you can design a back-end navigation section that empowers your e-commerce team to work efficiently and achieve their goals.

Remember, the specific navigation design will depend on the unique needs and functionalities of your e-commerce website. However, by focusing on clarity, organization, and ease of use, you can create a back-end navigation that drives productivity and success.
