Unit of Measure (UOM) Products in Hike E-commerce

Unit of Measure (UOM) Products in Hike E-commerce

Overview

Unit of Measure (UOM) products allow merchants to sell products in different quantities, pack sizes, or measurements through their Hike E-commerce store while maintaining accurate inventory tracking.

When a UOM product is published to your online store, customers can browse, purchase, and checkout with the selected UOM option, while inventory is automatically adjusted based on the configured conversion rate.

How UOM Products Appear Online

UOM products are displayed alongside standard products throughout the online store, including:

· Product search results

· Collection pages

· Product detail pages

· Shopping cart

· Checkout

· Order confirmation pages

Customers can easily identify UOM products by their product name and pricing.

Searching for UOM Products

Customers can search for UOM products using the product name.

Example:

· Standard Product: Adams Flat Shirt

· UOM Product: UOM-Adams Flat Shirt

Both products can appear in search results with their respective pricing and details.

Adding UOM Products to Cart

To purchase a UOM product:

1. Browse or search for the product.

2. Select the required UOM product.

3. Click Add to Cart.

4. Adjust the quantity if required.

5. Proceed to checkout.

The cart will display:

· Product image

· Product name

· UOM pricing

· Quantity selected

· Cart total

Checkout Process

When a customer proceeds to checkout:

1. Customer selects a shipping address.

2. Order summary displays the UOM product.

3. Tax calculations are applied according to store settings.

4. Customer completes payment.

The order is then created in Hike.

Inventory Tracking

Inventory is automatically managed for UOM products.

When a UOM product is sold:

· The corresponding stock is deducted from the parent product inventory.

· Available stock quantities are updated automatically.

· Committed stock is reduced once the order is completed.

This ensures inventory accuracy across both the online store and Hike POS.

Supported Functionality

The following scenarios are supported for UOM products:

· Product search

· Product collections

· Product detail pages

· Cart management

· Checkout process

· Inventory tracking

· Order creation

· Order history

· Product image display

· Multiple quantity purchases

· Mixed orders containing standard and UOM products

Notes

· UOM pricing is maintained independently from the parent product.

· Inventory deductions follow the UOM conversion configuration set in Hike.

· Product images are displayed throughout the shopping journey, including product pages, cart, and order details.

· UOM products can be sold together with standard products in the same order.

Best Practice

Before making UOM products available online:

1. Configure the UOM conversion correctly in Hike.

2. Verify product pricing.

3. Confirm inventory tracking settings.

4. Test a complete purchase flow from product page to checkout.

This ensures accurate pricing and inventory management for customers purchasing UOM products online.
