Hike's new AI-Assisted Import feature takes the hassle out of data imports. 

Now effortlessly import products, customers, suppliers, gift cards, and purchase orders with smart AI mapping that automatically aligns your Excel columns to the correct Hike POS fields.
Our intelligent system automatically analyzes your spreadsheet files and maps the columns to the correct fields in your Hike database, ensuring a faster, more accurate, and seamless import process.
This guide will walk you through how to use this powerful new tool.

Within this article, we will see how it works with Product imports as an Add-on. 

How It Works

The AI engine examines the header names and the data within each column of your file (e.g., .xlsx, .csv). It compares this information to the standard product fields in Hike (like Product Name, SKU, Price, Cost, Quantity) and intelligently suggests the correct mapping. The best part? The import interface looks exactly the same, but now it does the heavy lifting for you.

Prerequisites

An active Hike account with the Add-on plan enabled.
A product import file (CSV or XLSX) formatted with clear header rows.

Step-by-Step Guide to AI-Assisted Product Import

Step 1: Access the Import Menu

Log in to your Hike Point of Sale and navigate to: 
Navigate to Products >> Products.
Click on the Import button. You will see the familiar import screen.



Step 2: Upload Your File
Click Choose File and add the Excel file spreadsheet into the upload area.
Once the file is processed, you will see the Column Mapping screen.



When you upload the file here, the AI will take some time to analyzed your file and automatically map your column headers to what it believes are the correct Hike fields.




Step 3: Review the AI's Automatic Mapping
Automated Analysis: Before you do anything, the AI will have already analyzed your file and automatically mapped your column headers to what it believes are the correct Hike fields.
Review Mappings: Carefully review each suggested mapping in the Map to column dropdown list.

Step 4: Confirm and Finalize (Manual Override)
Verify Critical Fields: Always double-check crucial fields like SKU, Price, and Quantity to ensure they are mapped correctly.
Manual Adjustment: If you need to change any of the AI's suggestions, simply click the dropdown menu for that column and select the correct Hike field from the list.

Step 5: Run the Import
Once you are satisfied with all the column mappings, click the Continue button.
The system will now import your products using the mapped fields. You will see a confirmation message and a summary log upon completion, noting any successes or errors (e.g., duplicate SKUs).

A. Simply use the dropdown to correct it manually. The AI learns over time, and your corrections help improve its accuracy for future imports.

Q: Is my data sent to a third-party AI?
A: No. Hike uses a proprietary, secure AI model trained specifically for retail data. Your product information and business data never leave our secured platform.

Q: What file formats are supported?
A: The feature supports both .csv and .xlsx file formats.

Q: Does the AI work for importing other things, like customers or suppliers?
A: This feature is available for Products, Customers, Supplier and Purchase order import within Hike. 

Q: I'm an Addon subscriber but don't see this feature.
A:  This feature is available as a paid add-on. Please visit Store set-up >> Add-ons to check if this feature is activated. Please ensure your dashboard is fully refreshed. If you still cannot see it, contact our Support team to verify your feature access.
