FAQ on Integration with BigCommerce - Products

Hike allows you to set up the integration with BigCommerce. Regarding how to set it up, please refer to How to integrate BigCommerce with Hike. In this article, we will answer some of the questions frequently asked about syncing products with BigCommerce.

Will adding, editing, and deleting products sync between BigCommerce and Hike?

Adding products
  1. Simple products: Yes, the sync will occur both ways.
  2. Products with variants: Yes, the sync will occur both ways.
  3. Composite products: No. Because the corresponding composite product feature in BigCommerce (Product Pick List) is designed differently from the composite products feature in Hike, composite products cannot sync between Hike and BigCommerce.
Editing products

Yes, most of the product information edited will sync. Some product information fields (attributes) cannot be synced. Please refer to the "What product attributes will sync?" section below for further information on this.

Deleting products

Deleting products in Hike or BigCommerce will NOT sync or trigger any deletion process on the other platform. If you would like to delete a product from both Hike and BigCommerce, you need to perform the deletion in Hike and BigCommerce separately.

How can I only sync some of the products?

Hike → BigCommerce: Yes, you can keep the box “Ecommerce” unchecked for a particular product, as shown in the image below, if you don’t want a particular product to sync to BigCommerce.

The product editing page in Hike. Visiting path: Products > Products

BigCommerce → Hike: No, there is no option to sync only some products from BigCommerce to Hike, the sync process will sync all the existing products in BigCommerce over to Hike. A workaround could be manually deleting the product in Hike after the product sync process has occurred, as the action of deleting products in Hike will NOT affect the products in BigCommerce.

We recommend managing all of your products in your Hike store. If you would like only some of the products to sync to BigCommerce, uncheck the “Ecommerce” option in the Hike product editing page as mentioned above. If you would like some products to not be available for sale within your Hike store, you can set the product status to inactive, as shown in the image below.

1. The images added when creating products will sync in both ways.  Only the main image of a product will sync between Hike and BigCommerce.
2. It depends on your tax rule settings in Hike and BigCommerce which price will sync.

Why did only some of the product sync?

Hike → BigCommerce: There could be different reasons why.

Reason 1: If you haven’t checked the box “Ecommerce” on the product editing page, as shown in the image below, then the product won’t sync to BigCommerce. Hike will only sync the products with “Ecommerce” checked to BigCommerce.

Reason 2: If you haven’t checked the box “Send new products in Hike to BigCommerce” in the sync setting page, as shown in the image below, then any new products won’t sync to BigCommerce.

Reason 3: If you choose not to sync products under the product types that are not in BigCommerce, as shown in the image below, then all the Hike products under these product types won’t sync to BigCommerce.

Reason 4: If you make the product invisible in the outlet that you have mapped with BigCommerce, as shown in the images below, then this product will not sync to BigCommerce.

BigCommerce → Hike: There could be two possible reasons.

Reason 1: If you haven’t checked the box “Send new products created in BigCommerce to Hike” in the Integration sync settings page, as shown in the image below, then the new products won’t sync from BigCommerce to Hike.

Reason 2: If you choose not to sync non-SKU products from BigCommerce to Hike, as shown in the image below, then products with the SKU fields blank in BigCommerce will not sync to Hike.

Why aren’t the stock levels of a product matching in Hike and BigCommerce?

Reason 1: It might happen when you have ticked the option "Send full BigCommerce order to Hike and save in Hike's sales history".

Reason 2: It might also happen if you have activated the weighted average cost feature in Hike. For further details, please refer to How Does the Option of Weighted Average Cost Work?

If you manually update the stock levels in BigCommerce, as shown in the image below or any BigCommerce 3rd-party plugins update the stock levels in BigCommerce, then inventory in Hike will not get updated, which leads to the difference.

Product editing page in BigCommerce. Visiting path: Products > View

We recommend managing your product stock levels only in your Hike store. You could either perform a stock take by following the instructions here or import the product with the correct stock levels by following the instructions here.

However, if any inconsistencies have happened to your Hike store's Product Inventory levels, the recommended solution would be to perform a stocktake in your Hike store. Please refer to Creating & Completing Inventory Counts in Hike.

What does connector mean in product history?

Connector refers to the third-party platform which your Hike store is integrated with such as E-Commerce and accounting platforms. If there is any update for a product synced to Hike from BigCommerce (or any other integration), it will show as the connector in product history.

Will the unit of measure sync from Hike to BigCommerce?

No, the unit of measurement will not sync from Hike to BigCommerce.

Will Purchase orders sync from Hike to BigCommerce?

Hike Purchase orders will not sync to BigCommerce but any updates on product inventories after the Purchase Order is received in your Hike Store will sync to BigCommerce to ensure that your stock levels in BigCommerce are correct.

If I change the product image in Hike or BigCommerce, will it sync to another platform?

Yes, if you select the following option on the sync setting page, the product image update will sync both ways. Please read the instructions on the sync page before activating 2-way product image updates.
