Why am I unable to scan some smaller bar-codes printed from Hike and Dymo?

Are you facing issue while scanning smaller bar-code labels using Scanners? This article is for you.

Small bar-code labels, such as 13 mm x 25 mm and 25 mm x 25 mm, cause large barcodes to shrink. This shrinkage leads to barcodes not scanning correctly when using smaller labels.

We conducted extensive testing with 13 mm x 25 mm and 25 mm x 25 mm barcode label. Here are the detailed results:

1. Numeric Barcodes:
•  Barcodes with up to 6 digits can be scanned successfully without any issues. This means that if your barcode contains only numbers and is 6 digits or fewer, it should work well with the 25 mm x 25 mm label.
2. Alphanumeric Barcodes:
•  Barcodes with up to 4 characters, including both letters and numbers, can be scanned successfully. This indicates that shorter alphanumeric barcodes are compatible with the smaller label size.

Recommendation:

For longer barcodes, it is recommended to use a larger barcode label size, such as 25 mm x 54 mm. Based on our tests, barcodes like C258A2DE (which is 8 characters long and alphanumeric) will work fine with this larger label size. This ensures that the barcode remains readable and can be scanned without any issues.

Conclusion:

If you are experiencing scanning issues with smaller labels, consider switching to a larger label size to accommodate longer barcodes. This adjustment should resolve any problems related to barcode shrinkage and improve scanning accuracy.
