Prompt to Add a Customer Before Completing a Sale

Prompt to Add a Customer Before Completing a Sale

Overview

The Prompt to assign a customer when completing a sale without a selected customer setting helps ensure that a customer is not accidentally left off a sale.

When this setting is enabled, Hike displays a confirmation pop-up if a cashier attempts to complete a sale without assigning a customer. This is particularly useful for businesses that prepare customer orders for pickup, manage customer records, or use loyalty programs.

Why use this feature?

Enabling this setting helps you:

  • Reduce the chance of completing sales without a customer.
  • Improve customer order tracking and pickup processes.
  • Encourage accurate customer record-keeping.
  • Give cashiers an opportunity to assign a customer before finalising the sale.

Enable the customer prompt

  1. Log in to your Hike Admin console.
  2. Navigate to Storesetup.
  3. Open the General settings.
  4. Enable Prompt to add customer if not selected.
  5. Click Save.

Once enabled, Hike will display a warning whenever a sale is processed further without a selected customer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this setting prevent sales without a customer?

No. The setting displays a reminder only. Cashiers can still choose No, Continue to complete the sale without assigning a customer.

What happens if I add a customer from the prompt?

After a customer is assigned, the sale continues as normal. Any customer-specific pricing, discounts, loyalty benefits, promotions, or pricing rules configured in your store are automatically recalculated and applied before the sale is completed.

Who should use this feature?

This feature is recommended for businesses that:

  • Process customer pickup orders.
  • Use customer loyalty programs.
